Agfa celebrated 30 years of imaging activity on the Chinese market on 10 January 2019, with a ceremony at the Belgian embassy in Beijing, China. Marc Vinck (Belgian ambassador to China), Christian Reinaudo (president and CEO of Agfa-Gevaert) and Herman Raats (Agfa ASPAC North general manager) were joined by government officials and hospital CEO’s to mark the milestone.

Since beginning operations in China in 1988, Agfa has continuously committed to introducing state-of-the-art medical imaging technologies in China for the country’s hospitals and healthcare institutions. Today Agfa Wuxi Imaging Co., in the Wuxi New District, is focusing on the assembly of medical devices. This continuous technology evolution has kept Agfa in pace with the progress of China’s medical industry. Next to high-end equipment for the medical industry, Agfa has introduced other advanced technologies in China, e.g. for the commercial printing sector and for the electronics industry.

Currently, Agfa employs over 600 people in China in sales, service, manufacturing, R&D, finance and operations, both for the Chinese market as well as for exports. Among others, the China-based R&D team develops new software solutions for global healthcare IT systems.

“Partnership and innovation are the pillars of our growth in the key market of China. While we celebrate the successes of the past 30 years, we are focusing on the future of medical imaging,” comments Christian Reinaudo, president and CEO of Agfa-Gevaert. “Our exclusive MUSICA image processing technology is the heart of our intelligent direct digital imaging systems, balancing high-impact image quality with the tools to reduce patient imaging radiation dose – a key concern for healthcare providers and patients alike. By providing solutions for advanced image acquisition and processing, Agfa is creating “Care You Can See”, all around the world.”
