Following on from the success of the #BTheBestUCanB initiative in 2017 Agfa HealthCare is pleased to announce the sponsorship of Lewis Eccleston and Naomi Wright for 2018 triathlon season. Lewis and Naomi are talented amateur triathletes from the UK and will be competing at the 70.3 mile Half Ironman and 140.6 mile Ironman triathlon events in the UK, Europe and South Africa.

In 2018, Lewis’ plans are to continue to build on the success of the previous year with Naomi, having seen success in her initial longer distance races in 2017, intending to race even more competitively this year.

In 2017, Lewis’ key results were
• 1st Slateman Triathlon 2017
• 1st 18-24 Age Group Ironman UK 2017 (15th overall)
• 1st Sundowner Triathlon
• 7th 18-24 Age Group Ironman World Championships, Hawaii

In 2018, Naomi’s key results were:
• 3rd 30-34 Age Group Ironman 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun – Naomi first race at the longer distance
• 3rd 30-34 Age Group Zurich Ironman 5i50:
• 7th 30-34 Age Group Kitzbuhel European Championships Triathlon

As part of their preseason training both athletes visited Elite Breathlessness Clinic at The Manchester Institute of Health & Performance (MIHP) to have their lungs and airway assessed by leading specialists to ensure they are performing at their optimum level in all conditions and climates. An Elite Cardiovascular Clinic is also planned at MIHP.

Preseason results and performances have also been really positive. Naomi took the mixed team win at Epic Events 2up Duathlon and finished 3rd female at the Anglesey Half Marathon in a time of 01:31:58. Not to be beaten after the Wilmslow Half Marathon was cancelled due to snow, Lewis decided ran the 13.1 miles indoors on a treadmill in a time of 01:11:58.

Increasingly wearable technology is becoming part of people’s everyday lives as they track and monitor steps, heart rate, sleep, fitness activities and other health related data. This activity data can then be easily stored and shared and by way of an example Lewis and Naomi’s wearable data will be uploaded into Agfa’s Integrated Care Suite.

Agfa’s Integrated Care Suite offers a secure tool for hospitals and patients to access data and provide information enabling integrated and connected care. Communication is two-directional: patients can easily access their own data, and can also upload new information remotely from devices such as wearable technology. Mobile functionality lets patients access securely from anywhere, using a mobile device or smartphone.

Agfa HealthCare is proud to support Lewis and Naomi as they take on their 2018 challenges and #BTheBestUCanB.
