Today is world Osteoporosis day which is aimed at raising awareness of this under diagnosed disease. Osteoporosis causes weakening of the bones which will result in 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men* suffering a fracture in their lifetime.
Despite initiatives like today, an estimated 4 out of 5 patients are unaware that they are suffering from the disease, with most patients not receiving treatment until after they have broken a bone. In the future X-ray will become an opportunity to automatically screen patients for Osteoporosis.
